Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Cups & Grams ("we", "us") handles information when you use our products: the website at https://cupsandgrams.com and the Cups & Grams Android app (published on Google Play under the package name com.northboundlabs.cupsandgrams). It was last updated on 2026-05-26.

Information we collect directly

We do not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide personal information on either the website or the app. All converters and tools run entirely on your device; the amounts and ingredients you enter are never sent to us or stored.

On the website, our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, for security and performance purposes.

In the Android app, we collect no first-party analytics or telemetry from you. The app does not contain a login, account system, message inbox, or feedback form that captures personal data.

Advertising

Both products are supported by advertising. The website uses Google AdSense and the Android app uses Google AdMob. These are Google advertising services governed by Google's own privacy practices.

On the website (AdSense): Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised web advertising via Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

In the Android app (AdMob): AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID (a resettable Google-issued identifier specific to ads), IP address, general device and network information, and basic app-interaction events necessary to serve ads and measure ad performance. This data is transmitted to Google over an encrypted connection and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of personalised in-app ads, in your Android device's Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path may vary by device manufacturer and Android version).

We do not collect, store, or share any personal information about you ourselves — the data described above is collected directly by Google AdSense / AdMob as part of serving the ads. We do not have access to your advertising ID, IP address, or browsing history.

Because the ad data is held by Google rather than by us, requests to access, correct, or delete that data should be made directly to Google via My Ad Center (controls for personalised advertising) and Google Account Data & Privacy (broader data controls). EEA / UK personal data transferred to Google's United States servers relies on Google's Standard Contractual Clauses under their publisher agreements.

Analytics

The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count aggregate pageviews and referrer information. Cloudflare Web Analytics is designed to be privacy-respecting: it does not use client-side cookies, does not fingerprint individual visitors, and is not used to build any user profile or identifier. Cloudflare's description of what the product does and doesn't collect is at cloudflare.com/web-analytics. The Android app contains no first-party analytics SDK.

Your privacy choices (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, GDPR (and the UK and Swiss equivalents) give you rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not collect personal data directly, most such requests relate to our advertising partner Google. The website uses Google's Funding Choices consent management platform to present a choice between personalised and non-personalised advertising on your first visit; you can revisit that choice through Google's My Ad Center at any time. In the Android app, the equivalent consent prompt is presented by Google's User Messaging Platform on first launch (see Revoking ad consent (Android app) below).

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act give you specific rights regarding your personal information. This section sets out what we collect, how we share it, and how to exercise those rights.

Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months:

  • Identifiers — IP address, browser cookies on the website, Android advertising ID in the app.
  • Internet or other electronic activity — pages visited on the website, ad impressions and interactions on both the website and app.
  • Geolocation (approximate, city-level) — inferred from IP address to serve regionally appropriate ads.

Sources of collection: directly from your device when you visit the website or use the app.

Business or commercial purposes: displaying advertising, measuring ad performance, fraud prevention, and operational security.

Categories of third parties with whom we share personal information: Google LLC (AdSense, AdMob, related Google advertising and account services); Cloudflare, Inc. (web hosting, email routing, and web analytics).

Selling and "sharing" under CCPA/CPRA: we do not sell personal information for money. Our use of Google AdSense and AdMob involves transmitting the identifiers and activity data listed above to Google for purposes that the CCPA/CPRA defines as "sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising." You have the right to opt out of this sharing (see below).

Sensitive personal information: we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA (such as precise geolocation, government ID numbers, religious beliefs, racial or ethnic origin, or health information).

Your rights:

  • Right to know — request a copy of personal information held about you.
  • Right to delete — request deletion of personal information.
  • Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sharing — opt out of having your personal information shared for cross-context behavioural advertising.
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of services because you exercised any of these rights.

How to exercise these rights:

  • Opt out of advertising "sharing": use Google's My Ad Center to control personalised ads. On Android, you can additionally reset or delete your advertising ID via Settings → Privacy → Ads. The opt-out applies to ad personalisation; non-personalised contextual ads continue to be served.
  • Right to know, delete, or correct: email us at hello@cupsandgrams.com with your request. We will verify your identity using the email address you contact us from. Because the underlying data is held by Google rather than by us, fulfilling deletion and access requests may require you to use Google Account Data & Privacy directly — we will direct you there as needed.

"Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information": this section, together with Google's controls above, is our "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" disclosure. We do not sell personal information for money; to opt out of the cross-context-behavioural- advertising "sharing" that occurs through Google AdSense / AdMob, use the Google consent prompt on first visit, or My Ad Center at any time thereafter.

Authorised agents: you may designate an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf. We may require verification that the agent has been authorised.

Response timeline: we will acknowledge requests within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 calendar days (extendable by 45 days with notice).

Revoking ad consent (Android app)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the Cups & Grams Android app shows a Google-provided consent message on first launch asking whether you want personalised ads. You can change that choice at any time later. Two paths:

  • From inside the app: open the Substitutions tab and scroll to the footer at the bottom of the list. Tap Manage ad preferences. The same Google consent form will reappear and you can update your choice.
  • From your device's system settings: open Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path may vary by Android version and manufacturer). From there you can reset or delete your advertising ID, opt out of personalised in-app ads across all apps, or read more about how the advertising ID works.

Revoking consent does not stop ads from being shown — the app continues to be ad-supported — it only means the ads you see will no longer be personalised based on your previous activity.

Children's privacy

Both the website and the app are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. The app is rated for general audiences on Google Play and is not enrolled in Google's Designed for Families programme.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes affecting how the app handles data will be reflected in the Data Safety section on the app's Google Play listing as well.
